Abstract
The escalating of global environmental crisis, characterized by unprecedented climatic changes and multifarious environmental risks demands innovative and robust solutions. Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and tools have emerged as transformative instruments, offering unparalleled capabilities in data analysis, prediction, modeling, and optimization. This review paper provides a comprehensive examination of the diverse applications of AI, including Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing (NLP), in understanding and addressing climate change and environmental challenges. We explore AI's utility in enhancing climate modeling, predicting extreme weather events, monitoring environmental parameters, managing natural disasters, mitigating pollution, and fostering biodiversity conservation. Furthermore, the paper delves into the inherent challenges and limitations associated with AI deployment in this domain, encompassing data availability, model interpretability, computational demands, and ethical considerations. Finally, it outlines future directions and emerging trends, emphasizing the imperative for interdisciplinary collaboration and responsible AI governance to harness its full potential for a sustainable future.
