Abstract

The paper goes on to discuss some areas where counseling plays a role in women's empowerment. Such an area as education there is growing interest in assessing the impact of biodiversity, particularly when women are the focus of the intervention, on women’s empowerment. Globally, research has shown that interventions targeting nutrition, health, and economic development can affect women’s empowerment. Evidence suggests that women’s empowerment is also an underlying determinant of outcomes. Depending on the focus of the intervention, different domains of women’s empowerment will be influenced, for example, by an increase in knowledge or greater control over income and access to resources. Poverty alleviation, social security, family stability, skills acquisition, politics, and nation-building are discussed, as well as career opportunities. Finally, the paper recommends that there should be gender equality in education, biodiversity, and professionally trained counselors who should be adequately recruited, equipped, and motivated at all levels of the educational system of the country. The paper concludes with recommendations for integrating feminist perspectives into counseling practices to promote positive mental health outcomes for women.
