Abstract

Surgical onychopathology includes a group of nosological forms of purulent-necrotic and mycotic-associated lesions of the nail phalanx, nail and peri-nail tissues, and epidermophytia of the feet, which occupies one of the prominent places among pathological skin lesions; poses a risk of spreading to patients with diabetes due to its high contagiousness, frequency of various complications; and leads to a violation of the quality of life. Onychomycotic lesions are macroscopically classified into superficial mycosis, proximal and distal-lateral onychomycosis, onychocheilosis, subungual hyperkeratosis, and onychogryphosis.
