Multiple Arteriosclerosis with Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) Treated By Imeglimin (Twymeeg)

Abstract

The patient was a 62-year-old man with type 2 diabetes (T2D), hypertension, hyperuricemia, and multiple arteriosclerosis. He was diagnosed with T2D at age 53, and HbA1c remained at approximately 6.5%. His BMI showed 23.4 kg/m². Electrocardiogram (ECG) revealed ST-T depression in V₂-V₅. As pulse wave velocity (PWV), Cardio-Ankle Vascular Index (CAVI) showed 9.4/9.3 (right/left) and ankle-brachial index (ABI) showed 1.07/0.99 (right/left). Head CT showed severe atrophy of the bilateral frontal lobes. An abdominal CT suggested fatty infiltration and small stones in bilateral kidneys. Consequently, he showed multiple arteriosclerosis from T2D. Administration of imeglimin (Twymeeg) showed HbA1c reduction as clinical efficacy.
