Abstract

During the Paleolithic period from 38,000 years ago in Japan, people lived a hunter-gatherer life style, and usually took animal products such as Naumann's elephant, giant deer, elk, deer, wild boar, and hares. As the cold climate from last ice age, they had only coniferous trees without broad-leaved trees that bore fruit. Its meal style was similar to low carbohydrate diet (LCD), and we call it Paleo diet for beneficial nutritional option for diabetes and obesity. Paleo diet showed clinical effect for reduction of blood glucose, triglycerides, blood pressure, and waist circumference. Paleo diet and LCD are compared and discussed.
