Abstract

The present study discusses about the epidemiological dynamics of Caprine Theileriosis in certain districts of Assam, a state in India. The disease considered to be costly and causes economic burden to goat rearing farmers. The disease is most commonly encountered by veterinary field practitioner across the globe. Spatial and temporal distribution has been studied along with the other predisposing factors. Theileria luwenshuni was identified both from clinical ill and apparently healthy goats. The disease dynamics showed that the disease has attained endemic stability in this region of Northeast, as because in spite of having high prevalence rate in these regions, the clinical cases were not much pronounced. This subclinical form of Caprine Theileriosis is of great importance from the economy point of view where small ruminants are reared for production and livelihood. Therefore, suitable therapeutic regime has to be formulated along with a routine monitoring and of this silent disease is necessary to know the ongoing status and to curb any future outbreak.
