Abstract

One mostly different from other causes of blood and device infections is Staphylococcus aureus, which has surface adhesiveness and biofilms forming ability. Using CFD, we investigate in silico the consequences of changes in bacterial size and form on blood flow. Included for simulations to study several parameters wall shear stress (WSS), velocity distribution and vorticity are the blood that is non-Newtonian and different geometries of S. aureus. Long forms create strong perturbances in the flow field and can lead to the rise of the flow resistance as well as in the situations of vessel wall obstruction.
