Abstract

Individuals have the right to their own privacy, free from surveillance by other individuals or organizations, including the state. In Information Systems, contemporary advanced data storage and analysis technologies bring convenience in collecting personal data from various sources and creating detailed digital profiles about individuals, but also pose serious challenges of violating the privacy of individual information. Data flowing over the Internet can be monitored at many points and easily copied, thereby threatening the protection of personal data. Solutions discussed include regulatory improvements and stronger security measures to safeguard individual privacy in the digital era.
