Abstract

The main idea of this editorial is to understand that the human impulse to search it’s been for a long time.

More precisely, from ancestral times, such as the Wagiman language of a small Aboriginal Australian community, until our times, with complex challenges and actions toward overcoming the knowledge barriers, with pregnant tendencies to innovation, performance and preserving the natural environment.

The main idea of this editorial is to understand that the human impulse to search it’s been for a long time.

More precisely, from ancestral times, such as the Wagiman language of a small Aboriginal Australian community, until our times, with complex challenges and actions toward overcoming the knowledge barriers, with pregnant tendencies to innovation, performance and preserving the natural environment.

Thus, we consider eloquent to start with the word murr-ma which means, in Wagiman language, the act of searching for something (our emphasis) in the water with only your feet/, or to walk in the water searching for something with your feet (online dictionaries).

It is one of the most wonderful words about nature and the community with humans. The surface of the water is 70 % on the globe and it still hides a lot of secrets. Of course, one of the way/mean to discover something in the nature, in the water is the use of the sense of touch.

Touch receptors are located in the skin. The sense of touch is particularly sensitive around the mouth, hands and feet/soles (our emphasis). Therefore, we perceive even small differences in textures and surfaces (www.kreativity.org/blog, 2021). From this point, we can understand that the ancestral people used feet/soles not only to support them better and not lose balance, but mainly to explore, to search the unknown environment in order to use it in his interest and to progress.

The human actions, the current businesses are traces and developments of the powerful background created also by the contribution of Australian Aboriginals.

Thus, for millennia, centuries, step by step (even in “the water” of unknown to be revealed), man gained experience, more knowledge and becomes a propeller for new and performing devices and technologies, improving his life.

Also, in the same context, we may highlight the words of the first astronaut who landed on the Moon, Neil Armstrong: one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind, although Armstrong affirmed, he said only the first part of the phrase. Indeed, it was a small step, a sole, in the unknown soil of the Moon, or in “the water” of outer space.

Subsequently, we have witnessed manifestations of growing research in vital fields of the economy, but also in fields of interference between sciences. For example, the revisiting Leigh Van Valen’s hypothesis of the evolution, known as the Red Queen Hypothesis. A perfect theoretical construction, valid even today, meaning the necessity that the systems to continuing adaption to the advanced ones, or to new achievements and higher results in different fields (www.researchgate.net, 2021, abstract). This Van Valen’s contribution percolated far from its original formulation, being found in very different domains, from economics, to physics, development process, everything that involves progress and mutual adaptation of systems.

On a higher level of searching and researching, the TI &C revolution is characteristic for the last decades and, mainly, for our days, in order to support people’s activities, to ease them and, above all, to ensure an increased productivity and profitability. This means, the last term explains everything, the reason d’être of any activity/business, even now in the era of digitalization.

In this scope, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) provides devices, instruments and tools which are able to analyze their environment and make autonomous decisions to achieve specific goals, from medical aspects, to agricultural and space communications and transportation.

Artificial Intelligence (AI), briefly speaking, is referring to the sophisticated and higher productivity (our emphasis) non-human devices, such as primarily machines, computers and software.

For example, at the European Union, in 2020, at the beginning of pandemic, 7 % of EU companies with at least 10 employees were using AI. It is not an impressive figure, but reveals the tendency of walking step by step in the “water” of virtual world.

From that walking by feet to the Artificial Intelligence is a long way. But we mustn’t stop and go forward by searching and researching in each and every domain ad, nowadays, between domains.

All experiences in the different domains and regions (of Economics mainly) have to be gathered in the main corpus of science and walk step by step, towards preserve our world and, at the same time, to ensure the well-functioning of all elements, of all systems involved in, in that movement of permanent adaptation and competition between them.
