Abstract

A study was conducted to assess the knowledge, attitude and perceived barriers regarding telemedicine among staff nurses. The study adopted descriptive survey design, where simple random sampling was used to collect data from 70 staff nurses from a selected tertiary level hospital in Ernakulam district, Kerala.The data were collected from the subjects by using a structured knowledge questionnaire to assess knowledge, a structured checklist to assess the attitude and a structured checklist to assess the perceived barriers. Majority of the staff nurseshad poor knowledge (56%) and 77% had negative attitude towards telemedicine. 64% staff nurses reported that lack of suitable training in the use of equipment is the perceived barrier for the effective implementation of telemedicine..
