Abstract

Hospitals are confronted with increasing safety demands from diverse sets. However, little is known about the effects of these institutional and competitive pressures on hospital safety management. Within hospitals and healthcare facilities, the impact of the environment on users is more important than in offices or other commercial environments, because of the intention to create a place of healing and recovery. Hospitals should be leading the way in providing patients’ experience. Sick people should have the greenest buildings of all. Hospitals are significant contributors to pollution. That’s why it’s crucial for facilities to be more sustainable and look for ways to go green. And it’s not just to save the earth, but patients' health depends on it. The need to ‘go green’ in order to preserve and sustain the ecological environment has become a major concern to many stakeholders. Green and healthy hospital is the one that promotes public health by continuously reducing its environmental impact and ultimately eliminating its contribution to the burden of disease.
