Abstract

Hawaii Pacific University Nursing Students and Faculty have indicated an investment in the utilization of Complementary and Alternative Therapies/Medicine (CAM) in caring for their overall wellbeing (Burrell, 2017). CAM utilization was reported as helpful by 76.5% of our faculty and students pre-pandemic. Reported satisfaction with CAM therapies was 61/73% pre-pandemic. We sent out a query to our current students and faculty asking how their self-care practices were influenced by the Covid Pandemic. While only 70.6% indicated CAM utilization, 66.2% indicated satisfaction with CAM. Surprisingly, 88% indicated that the Covid Pandemic had resulted in changes to their self-care practices. We’ll be looking at how they perceived their CAM practices as helpful throughout the pandemic and what they did to care for themselves during the pandemic.
