Abstract
In the recent years, increased diffusion and advances in technology allowed the development of Tele dentistry, which applies the use of remote telecommunication technology for the purpose of clinical dental care. Especially in times like the current COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth has been extensively adopted in the medical field to minimize in-person visits, while maintaining a standard care of treatment. Due to the unexpected national lockdown, in-office non-urgent dental appointments have been cancelled, involving different fields of dentistry, such as Orthodontics and Orofacial Pain. In this presentation, the integration of systems of remote monitoring, such as Dental Monitoring, will be discussed in the context of active orthodontic treatment and strict control of the retention phase. Moreover, the delivery of behavioral interventions over telehealth for musculoskeletal orofacial pain conditions will be analyzed in terms of feasibility, efficacy, and rate of access to care.
