Abstract
Then, as today, the reason was seen in the weakening of blood circulation in the extremities, due to blockage (occlusion) or narrowing of arterial blood flow with an increased blood sugar content of more than 6 mol/L. Gangrene began from the remote parts of the legs, from the most stressed big toe. Blood circulation in small capillaries worsened. The tissues did not receive the necessary amount of oxygen and nutrients. As a result, the muscles of the legs quickly get tired, pain occurs, and gangrene develops.
